When you work at W&D, you should know we have office space designed by Gensler.
If you do not know anything about Gensler, they are truly the best in the business. They were chosen to craft our offices in Denver and Bethesda, with plans in place for Atlanta, too.
On August 14, the former co-CEOS of Gensler will be joining Willy on the Walker Webcast to discuss their view of the global economy, including which sectors are slowing down or heating up, how to drive meaningful change through the power of design, adaptive reuse, and the need for more residential space, creating spaces in a post-pandemic world, climate change and revitalizing our urban cores, future trends, and how to stay ahead of the curve in a constantly shifting environment.
Built into the blueprints of Denver and Bethesda
Both Denver and Bethesda showcase Gensler's expertise in creating environments that foster collaboration, reflect brand identity, and prioritize employee well-being.
Denver: A hub for innovation and connection
Gensler's design for the Denver office prioritized these design elements:
- Open floor plan: Encouraging teamwork and idea exchange through flexible workstations and designated collaboration areas.
- Tech-forward features: Seamlessly integrating cutting-edge technology to enhance productivity and communication.
- Biophilic design principles: Incorporating elements of nature, like natural materials and greenery, to promote employee well-being and create a restorative atmosphere.
- Brand identity integration: Subtly weaving Walker & Dunlop's brand values into the design by strategically using color palettes, materials, and signage.
Bethesda: A home away from home

Taking a different approach, Gensler transformed Walker & Dunlop's Bethesda headquarters into a warm and inviting space with a residential feel. Key design elements include:
- Hospitality-inspired design: Evoking a sense of comfort and belonging through features like a "parlor" with a pantry, and dining area. This hospitality-focused design allows employees to seamlessly transition from snacks to their next meeting.
- Residential beam design: Creating a homey atmosphere with exposed beams, is a common feature in residential architecture.
- Focus on wellness: Incorporating dedicated wellness rooms on each floor to prioritize employee well-being.
Gensler's expertise shines through
Gensler's designs for Walker & Dunlop's offices demonstrate their exceptional ability to:
- Craft flexible and functional workspaces that meet the evolving needs of a modern workforce.
- Prioritize collaboration and communication through thoughtfully designed meeting spaces and communal areas.
- Incorporate brand identity subtly yet effectively, creating a sense of our brand and our mission to create community.
- Design with employee well-being in mind, incorporating features that promote both physical and mental health.
Art in the office
Both offices benefit from murals created by Nicolette Atelier featuring our mission statement, community starts here. View Nicolette Atelier's site.
Overall, Gensler's successful execution of these projects highlights their commitment to creating workspaces that not only cater to business needs but also foster a positive and inspiring environment for W&D employees.
