Director, Capital Markets
James Chapman is a director of Capital Markets at Walker & Dunlop. In his role, he is responsible for providing commercial property financing solutions by analyzing market and financial data to structure transactions to match together Borrowers and Lenders. In his career, he has arranged over $2 billion of financing for ~30 million S.F. of industrial/retail/office/R&D/self-storage space and ~4,000 multifamily units & manufactured home pads. He primarily focuses on financings through insurance companies, local & national banks, credit unions, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, HUD, bridge lenders, equity providers, CMBS, and Proprietary lending sources.
Prior to Walker & Dunlop, he was a vice president at Johnson Capital (acquired by Walker & Dunlop in 2014). There, he sourced commercial property financing through market/financial data analysis and transaction structuring, specializing in multifamily, industrial, retail, and office. He also has experience in multifamily development and was an internal auditor at Metmor Financial. He has over 25 years of real estate experience.
Mr. Chapman earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology at the University of Colorado, Boulder and his master's degree in finance and marketing from The University of Southern California Marshall School of Business. He holds a California Real Estate Broker’s license.
