Kevin Burkhalter
Senior Director
Kevin Burkhalter, Senior Director, provides financing solutions to commercial and multi-family real estate developers and investors throughout the United States. In addition to securitized lenders and bridge financing, Mr. Burkhalter specializes in long term financing with portfolio, on-book lenders and under exclusive financing engagements with the property owners. Mr. Burkhalter has been active with both secured and unsecured debt as well as immediate funding to long term forward commitments. Mr. Burkhalter has several old-line, private clients that have land ownership dating back 50 to 200 years and thus has an avid interest in, and understanding of, California land history. Mr. Burkhalter joined Walker & Dunlop as part of the Johnson Capital acquisition in November 2014.
During his 25 year career with Johnson Capital and with over $3 billion of aggregate historical volume, Mr. Burkhalter was a top producer and within the past ten years with an average annual production of over $150 million. Prior to joining Johnson Capital, Mr. Burkhalter worked with the Weyerhaeuser Company, where he handled the underwriting review of all permanent loan originations, packaging, securitization and sale of loans in the secondary market.
Beyond the company, Mr. Burkhalter has been a guest speaker at the UCLA Real Estate Finance and Investment Conference, the Commercial Property News’ Annual Symposium, the Commercial Real Estate Finance conference (CREF) and Crittenden’s Meet the Lenders Conference. Over the years, Mr. Burkhalter has been a member of, or associated with, the National Association of Industrial and Office Parks (NAIOP), the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA), CRE Finance Council (CREFC) and the Urban Land Institute (ULI). Recently, Mr. Burkhalter was appointed to the Board of Directors for NAIOP’s southern California chapter.
Mr. Burkhalter holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Finance from California State University, Fresno and holds a California Salespersons license.
