Sam Thompson
Director
Based out of Portland, Oregon, Director Sam Thompson is responsible for the sale and disposition of age-restricted apartments, independent living facilities, and active adult communities throughout the country. Mr. Thompson advises private investors, institutional advisors, REITs, and developers, and he is dedicated to helping clients meet their investment objectives through superior client service, innovative marketing strategies, and his previous experience managing large construction projects.
Prior to joining Walker & Dunlop, Mr. Thompson served as Vice President in Marcus & Millichap’s National Seniors Housing Group. In this role, he facilitated the acquisition and sale of seniors housing assets across the Southwestern United States. Previously, Mr. Thompson spent three years with Howard S. Wright Constructors, a Pacific Northwest-based general contractor. Before entering the construction and commercial real estate industries, Mr. Thompson analyzed energy efficiency improvements and sustainable design features for commercial construction projects at Glumac. There, Mr. Thompson leveraged his knowledge of state and federal energy tax credits and their application processes to provide optimal client service and provide savings to owners and developers.
Mr. Thompson earned a Bachelor of Arts in planning, public policy, and management from the College of Architecture and Allied Arts at the University of Oregon.
