Jonathan Schwartz
Senior Managing Director & Co-Head NY Capital Markets
Jonathan Schwartz serves as senior managing director and co-head of New York Capital Markets at Walker & Dunlop, alongside Aaron Appel, Keith Kurland, and Adam Schwartz. The Team works in partnership with the entire Walker & Dunlop’s capital markets and investment sales groups to source and structure debt and equity financing for all commercial real estate asset classes nationally, with a focus on expanding W&D’s client base and capital markets capabilities.
With over 15 years of experience, Mr. Schwartz has transacted more than $60 billion in capital markets transactions, including financing, joint-venture equity, and loan sale transactions involving some of the most high-profile and prominent assets on behalf of blue-chip institutional investors and private owner/operators.
Prior to Walker & Dunlop, Mr. Schwartz served as co-founder and partner at AKS Capital Partners, one of the highest producing capital markets advisory firms in the country. Before AKS, Mr. Schwartz was vice chairman and partner at JLL’s New York Debt and Equity Capital Markets practice, where he and his partners increased the group's revenue by over 400%.
Mr. Schwartz has been recognized in Commercial Mortgage Observer’s Power 50 list of the 50 most influential players in commercial real estate finance from 2017 through 2024. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Delaware. Mr. Schwartz was also a member of the University of Delaware’s Men’s Tennis team where he was a 4-year letter winner and graduated in the top 10 all-time for career singles wins.
