Will Baker
Senior Managing Director
With over 20 years of experience in multifamily finance, Will Baker, Senior Managing Director, is responsible for new loan originations with a focus on student housing, conventional multifamily, manufactured housing and build-for-rent throughout the country. Mr. Baker also focuses on multifamily loan originations through Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, bridge, bank, life insurance, and HUD executions. Throughout his career, Mr. Baker has originated over $11.2 billion in Agency financing, including over $4.0 billion of student housing volume.
Mr. Baker played a large role in placing Walker & Dunlop at the top of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac’s student housing production rankings for the past ten years. Mr. Baker is an integral part of Walker & Dunlop’s production team, which has consistently been ranked a top 3 Fannie Mae® DUS lender and Freddie Mac® Optigo lender.
Mr. Baker is a frequent speaker at student housing industry events and has served on panels at Real Share, Interface, Bisnow, George Allen Roundtable, ULI, and NHMC events. He is also a member of the National Multi Housing Council and Urban Land Institute’s respective Student Housing Committees. Mr. Baker is a three-time winner of the Interface Student Housing Innovator Award for Best Financing Solution.
Mr. Baker earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the Williams School of Commerce, Economics, and Politics at Washington & Lee University in 2001.
Beyond the Company, Mr. Baker is actively involved in the Monday Morning Quarterback Club, Kiwanis Club of Birmingham, and the Saint Vincent’s Hospital Foundation Board. He qualified for his Certified Commercial Investment Member (“CCIM”) designation and currently lives in Birmingham, Alabama along with his wife Susannah, their son Wilson, and two daughters, Eliza and Annie.
