Warren Horvath
Managing Director
Warren Horvath is a Managing Director on the Walker & Dunlop Affordable Housing Team, based out of NJ. Mr. Horvath is responsible for sourcing conventional, programmatic joint-venture equity for affordable housing owners and operators and brings over 20 years of housing investment and finance experience to the team.
Mr. Horvath has a broad base of expertise spanning across debt and equity as an operator and investor in affordable and conventional products from a transactional and corporate finance perspective. He has overseen or been directly involved in more than $9 billion of housing transactions, representing over 75,000 units.
Prior to joining Walker and Dunlop, Mr. Horvath served as Senior Vice President of capital markets advisory for a leading global real estate firm, where he advised affordable housing owner/operators on raising programmatic joint-venture equity, portfolio recapitalization and restructuring, and corporate-level strategic planning and capitalization, in addition to advising investors looking to increase their allocations to the affordable housing space; and as Head of Capital Markets for The Michaels Organization (TMO) where he was responsible for the strategic sourcing and deployment of debt and equity capital, along with acquisitions and management of capital partner relationships for the organization.
Mr. Horvath has also served as a principal of the housing affiliate of a private equity investor, responsible for M&A activity in the affordable housing space, as a principal and head of acquisitions for a national multifamily private equity manager, as President of Mercy Community Capital, a national CDFI; and as Chief Investment Officer of The Community Development Trust (CDT) – the nation’s first affordable housing real estate investment trust (REIT).
Mr. Horvath earned his bachelor’s degree in urban planning from Rutgers University. Additionally, he is active with several charitable and philanthropic efforts, is a member of the Urban Land Institute’s Affordable/Workforce Housing Council, has served as a financial advisor to Habitat for Humanity International’s capital markets program, and has been honored as a national young leader in housing by Affordable Housing Finance magazine.
