Todd Johnson
Managing Director
Todd Johnson, Managing Director, is based out of New Orleans, Louisiana and is a member of Walker & Dunlop’s Structured Finance Team. Mr. Johnson is responsible for sourcing and placing structured finance capital for multifamily assets nationwide. Mr. Johnson brings over 12 years of industry experience with a primary focus on structuring institutional joint venture equity and preferred equity on behalf of multifamily owners, operators, and developers across the country. Mr. Johnson arranges financing on both a deal-by-deal and programmatic basis for property owners and developers with institutional equity investors who share the same objectives. Mr. Johnson consistently transacts with some of the largest and most respected LP investors in marketplace, including Starwood Capital, Investcorp, The Carlyle Group, Dome Equities, Alliance Bernstein, Canyon Partners, and DRA Advisors.
Over the course of his career, Mr. Johnson has been responsible for originations valued in excess of $4 billion. Mr. Johnson’s clients include nationally-recognized multifamily owners, operators, and developers such as Rangewater, Advenir, Venterra, Middle Street Partners, Hilltop Residential, Continental Properties, Tilden Properties, Carter Haston, John M Corcoran and Co., and CapREIT.
Prior to joining Walker & Dunlop, Mr. Johnson served as Director of Equity Products at Bellwether Enterprise Real Estate Capital LLC where he developed the firm’s equity markets business. He was previously the founder and managing partner of Brush Island Capital for 10 years where he developed and built a niche arranging institutional joint venture equity and preferred equity for clients across the country. Earlier in his career, Mr. Johnson led urban, condominium development for Atlanta-based Minerva Real Estate investments.
Mr. Johnson holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Millsaps College.
