Senior Vice President & Chief Production Officer
John Ducey is senior vice president and chief production officer on the Affordable Production team at Walker & Dunlop, based in Bethesda, Maryland. In his role, he is responsible for leading the company’s affordable housing financing efforts across all capital sources, including LIHTC equity, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and private capital providers, as Walker & Dunlop continues to expand its affordable lending and equity investment footprint across the United States. Mr. Ducey has extensive expertise in affordable housing finance, including a deep knowledge of tax-exempt bonds, low-income housing tax credit equity, Section 8 housing, real estate tax abatements, and affordable subordinate financing.
Prior to his current role at Walker & Dunlop, Mr. Ducey worked for eight years at Fannie Mae, where he served as director of multifamily LIHTC equity investments and manager of multifamily affordable housing. In these roles, he approved over $3 billion in loans for Fannie Mae’s Affordable Housing team. As director of multifamily LIHTC equity investments, Mr. Ducey assisted with Fannie Mae’s re-entry into the LIHTC equity business and structured LIHTC equity investment funds with eight syndicators, resulting in $550 million in equity investments over three years.
Throughout his career in affordable housing and community development, which spans over two decades, Mr. Ducey honed his GSE lending skills at Prudential Mortgage Capital Company and Muni Mae, and he led an originations team investing in New Markets Tax Credit projects at Enterprise Community Investment.
Mr. Ducey earned his bachelor’s degree in business and finance from St. Bonaventure University and his master’s degree in public sector financial management and social policy from the University of Maryland School of Public Policy. He began his career as a community organizer and affordable housing developer with So Others Might Eat, a Washington, D.C., nonprofit organization, and he is currently active on the Social Justice Committee at Holy Redeemer Church in Washington, which focuses on local affordable housing issues.
